Luca Olivotto, better known as Rockaforte, is an Italian DJ, producer and label owner currently based in Berlin. Luca started Rockaforte project roughly three years ago and has been experimenting with a deep house, tech house and melodic techno spheres. His tracks were released on superb labels such as Suara, Madtech, Indiana tones,... and gained support by many superstar DJ's. His musical interests had always been very plural and his aim is to produce a good mixture of electronic music without forgetting “the heart of the music”.
Luca is also a proud owner of Endless Music, a record label that is focused on independent and beautiful electronic music. With more than 40 separate releases on the catalogue, Endless Music aims for originality, creativity and music with character. His last EP “Monologue” was recently released on Endless and already received the exclusive support of several magazines and blogs (Mixmag, Soundspace, etc.). Little more than a year ago, Luca started using his real name in a new side project.
The aim is to explore and produce deep and techno vibes, in all their different shades. Despite being a relatively fresh and new name to the scene, Luca’s music has been making quite an impact and we're pretty sure that this is just the beginning.
What’s your favourite piece of gear – something you couldn’t live without?
Haha ... myself and my ideas! This is the first gear otherwise, simply the world of Ableton and of course.. my Motu 828.
Which do you prefer – playing at enormous festivals or intimate clubs?
I never played at an enormous festival but I did lots of music fitting well for something like this.
Which is the most mesmerising club that you’ve ever played at?
For now, Chalet in Berlin where I’m also a resident.
What is your best and worst experience at a gig and why?
The worst is when people pull the CDJ cable out, and the best... is when you see people go crazy on the dancefloor with your own productions.
Do you have any interests besides music?
Yes! I love culture and cooking. I manage Endless Music and it takes lots of time. Besides that, I also work in a club here in Berlin.
Do you enjoy sunset or sunrise sets?
I would say a sunrise set: I really love to play at afters if the vibe fits! But a sunset in the summer is also amazing.
What do you like and what do you hate about the music industry?
I love that there are always many new faces! Because the music industry always needs new stuff. Something I don't like is the fact, that the main channels are filled with catalogue tunes made with sample packs!! Less original things though…
If you could pick any artist to do a b2b set, who would it be?
Over and over again with my mate Derek and for sure, Maceo Plex.
What’s your biggest fear?
Sometimes women and generally human beings. Because in a way or another, in today’s society, we are missing the real values of life. Happiness comes to the small things… not material stuff. Emotions are the key to everything.
What’s the funniest thing that ever happened to you on a gig?
Crazy things always happen around me, that is why I’m so inspired to do new stuff. I’m not so good in verbal expression so I’m using melodies.
Could you pick one timeless track?
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Sure. I will announce my 3rd album. It will be available in spring 2017, after the cold and inspiring winter of Berlin.
