What was the funniest / most bizarre request you’ve ever had while playing?
“Have you got Cheerleader?” I had to Google the song afterwards!
Can you describe your studio setup for us?
Alesis M1 Monitors, 1 x Technic 1200 turntable, DJM 400 mixer, and 2 x (very old) CDJ 800s - my first pair of decks.
Could you tell us the story about your first gig?
I think it was 2011 and it was in a small bar in Manchester. Looking back I had no idea what I was doing but I absolutely loved it.
Name three artists that currently inspire you.
I’ve loved Mr.G for years, especially his energy when he DJ's. There are very few tracks of his that I don’t like. I admire artists who have made it on to big labels and gigs but managed to still keep one foot in the underground and stay true to their sound – Cassy, Subb-an, Dana Ruh.
Recall the worst experience of ‘killing the vibe’ in the club.
Mike Skinner played after me at a student event years ago and he cleared the room with dubstep...
What do you do before and after your set?
Eat plenty of food and drink loads of water beforehand! I usually stick around to catch some other sets, but I’ll be honest I do love jumping back in bed ha
What’s the worst job you’ve ever had?
I worked in Primark and I had to wear a high vis jacket and shout NEXT PLEASE with the world’s worst hangover every Saturday. Lovely stuff!
What are your favourite labels at the moment?
I love all of the records from Wax Isgud. Blind Box releases are quality too. And of course mine and Lauren Lo Sung’s imprint E1even records :-)
Imagine a cold winter, a fireplace and two glasses of wine—what song would you play?
The whole of Miseducation of Lauryn Hill on repeat. But if I had to pick one track - Nothing Even Matters.
Last but not least. What's the best advice you've ever received?
I lost my USB as I was walking to the stage to play at Parklife Festival. It was a DJ’s nightmare come true. So I’d say the best advice was to always take a back up USB...
