As well as DJing in some of the best clubs in Europe Oscar also runs a vinyl-only label Tardis alongside Eli Verveine - his female ally from Zűrich. Since the label's inception in 2012, it has forged quite a reputation with a handful of releases by well-respected artists from the past.
Being inclined to striking straight out of his intricate space-time continuum, label owner and co-honcho Oscar Schubaq delivers a tour de force of the first order. With a style that lies somewhere between house and trippy minimal techno, he’s most definitely a producer and DJ to keep an eye on. Here are his all-time 5FAVs.
TWO LONE SWORDSMEN - STAY DOWN LP
"If I had to choose only one fave album, that might be Stay Down. When this record was released in '98, it was the perfect soundtrack for me driving through snowy woods in my hometown. The whole album has this specific underwater vibe to it and never gets boring."
ROBERT HOOD - PUBLIC ENEMY NO.1
"Robert Hood and M-Plant was the first real 4/4 Techno music I really dug and really appreciated in its stripped down, hypnotic way. I could have chosen a bunch of Hood tunes, as I have many faves from his discography."
MOBB DEEP - SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST
"I was listening to a lot of east coast Hip Hop in the nineties, especially from NY. Mobb Deep was always one of my fave artists besides Das EFX and Jeru The Damaja… R.I.P. Prodigy!"
ENTOMBED - LEFT HAND PATH LP
"This album is a milestone for Swedish death metal and was a blueprint in terms of its unique guitar tone, recorded in the legendary Sunlight studio in Stockholm. I have a big Collection of demos and 7“ from that era, which I still listen to from time to time when I´m bored of electronic music." ;)
FLOW - BOY GIRL ACTION
"This is our latest release on Tardis Rec. by Flow from the UK. All 3 tracks on this record were made between '96 and '97 and have been unreleased for all those years. It´s a vibey Garage House beat with some melancholic string pads and a nice bassline underneath."
