5 Small Music Festivals in Croatia 2017 that caught our attention

Croatia's Adriatic coast is a perfect location for a sunny vacation or a memorable festival experience. Sonus, Barrakud, Hideout, Defected are just few of the big ones that every year appear vastly in social media and everywhere you look. But what about those smaller treasures you can find by digging into the unknown? Here are 5 smaller festival of 2017 in Croatia, that caught our eye with best electronic musicians and surreal locations.

Beats, Beer & Boogaloo (13 - 17 July 2017)

In the starring of the season in Tisno's The Garden resort is a freshly created Beats, Beer & Boogaloo festival. This festival presents an unique blend of craft beers from around the world while listening to some superb funk and soul beats from various DJ's and musicians. You can participate in guided tours, beer testing workshops and enjoy the concept of street food. Boat parties, all-nighters at Barbarella's will be complemented by the carnival procession which will pass through the streets of Tisno.

This festival is perfect for beer junkies, good food lovers and soulful dancers. The idea of it started when Craig Charles, the legendary actor, director and one of the most popular funk and soul DJ's in the UK, visited The Garden Brewery. The result of their collaboration is this newly established festival, that will bring a different concept to Croatia and the whole region. Beats, Beer & Boogaloo will connect all generations, lovers of craft beer, sun and sea and of course great music.

Labyrinth Open (8 - 11 July 2017)

This four day festival is also a newcomer on Croatia's Adriatic coast, located in camp Galeb in Omiš, near the city of Split. It is a limited capacity boutique festival, so if  you want to secure your place it’’s important to pre-register. It's because of the conferences and electronic music workshops this smaller cup of goods is a perfect getaway for producers and DJ's and therefore it caught our eye. The lineup includes Andrea Oliva, Enzo Siragusa, Guti Live, Guy J, Pan-Pot, Monoloc and many more yet to come. Make sure to check their site.

Labyrinth Open is hosted by the Dutch-Belgian agency Labyrinth Promotions, that's hosting events in the same-named club in Antwerp, Belgium. That is also where they organize Extrema festival, known for brilliant lineups. The offer you purchase will include boat parties, luxury accommodation or camping, DJ performances / live-acts, and workshops.

Lighthouse (24 - 28 May 2017)

The Lighthouse festival has set its location in Poreč for the 5th consecutive year. It's an underground electronic music festival from the creators of former Pratersauna, Vienna crew. We decided to put this family spirited festival on notice, because it combines artists like Jeremy Underground, Martin Buttrich, Kim Ann Foxman, Rebekah Aff, Gerd Janson, Lake people,.. to this Balkan region. For their 5th year anniversary they have a lot of news.

The capacity is now limited to 3500 people and to keep the family spirit they've turned into to a closed community with a brand new ‘friends of friends’ invitation system. As a former visitor, you will get (by a direct email invitation) exclusive access to their website and booking system.

From there on you have to create your own profile and you are able to invite your friends. But don't worry, if you are new and also want to be part of their community, there are enough tickets reserved. You just need to apply on their website. The 2017 lineup is not yet announced, and as far as the Ex-Yu tickets; you'll have to wait till the end of April or so, and their number will probably depend on the remaining capacity.

Obonjan (23 June - 3 September 2017)

This is not in fact a festival, but a whole experience. Obonjan is an island located near the city of Šibenik. It used to be known as an island full of snakes, which later became exterminated, because they’ve imported mongooses. It's a fresh idea of a group of promoters from the UK called ‘Sound Channel’, that decided to offer a whole package, not just a weekly party experience. In addition to electronic music, guests will have a wide range of other activities to choose from such as astronomy classes, yoga workshops, diving, surfing, or canoeing,.. To make life on the island as simple as possible, they’ve set a bunch of restaurants, bars, tents, lodges and even a cinema.

Various DJ's will perform during day and night. What stands out the most is the accommodation, because living on an island doesn’t have to mean roughing it. One can choose between safari-style forest lodges or bell tents with brand new shared bathroom facilities. All options are fully furnished, spacious and have proper beds. Plus, plugs to charge up your electric life and air conditioning comes as standard (there’s great WiFi on the island too). Obonjan is a really unique experience, not only to ravers but also to travelers and enthusiasts.

SuncéBeat (19 - 26 July 2017)

Our fifth pick is reserved for a festival, that we believe is slightly pushed aside in social media. SuncéBeat will return to The Garden resort, Tisno for the 8th consecutive time this year. It's one of the classic festivals, that combines quality music with perfect location and therefore it's one of the Balkans veterans.

The 2017 lineup is expectedly great and various. With rounds 1 and 2 announced you can chose from Kerri Chandler, Delano Smith, Detroit Swindle, Dennis Ferrer, Jeremy Underground, Sam Divine, David Morales and all the way to Karizma, Steve Butler, Marcel Vogel, ... You can check the full lineup here. Classic meats house meats disco at the SuncéBeat 2017
