A longtime champion of house music in all its forms, Stefano has been building his legend for quite some time. Always innovating sounds and crossing into a broad range of genres, he's been a key factor in his well-deserved rise.
Hailing from Italy, Stefano Noferini is one of the nations most respected DJs and producers. His Club Edition radio show is one of the most popular ones within electronic music enthusiasts while his Deeperfect imprint releases some of the finest tech house beats out there. We invited him for a casual talk prior to his Slovenian gig for Innocent Music anniversary which will happen on 6th April.
Hi, Stefano. What keeps you occupied these days? Do you have time to do anything else besides music related stuff?
I'm just back from Miami and straight to the studio to finish a new track and prepare a new club edition episode… busy as usual.
You seem like a very busy person. Besides managing your own music career, you’re also running a Deeperfect imprint and doing regular Club Edition radio show. How do you manage to combine all these things in your life?
Of course, I have a team that works with me and helps me at every part of my job, but at the same time, I pay attention to every detail of any single aspect.
You’ve been present on the electronic music scene for almost two decades now. What would you say changed the most throughout these years?
Many things have changed. Technology has certainly been the most important change and has made everything more affordable for everyone.
You haven’t been to Slovenia for a while now. What are your expectations about the following gig in Ljubljana for the 7th Innocent Music anniversary?
In fact, the last time was a Umek’s 1605 party which was at Ambasada Gavioli. I always had a good feeling with Slovenia in general and I hope this will be repeated for the Innocent party as well.
Your sound was always built around a hefty groove and kind of tribal feel to it. What is your inspiration when creating music?
My sound has tribal techno and house roots, this has always influenced my productions and playing. I try to blend everything into a more minimal setting though.
Besides Slovenian gig, what do you have lined up till the summer? Any special gigs that you’re really looking forward too?
Yes! As usual, the summer will be busy and very interesting. There will be a lot of festival and parties such as Resistance and Bora Bora in Ibiza, Dance Valley festival in Amsterdam, BPM in Portugal, Fabulous Festival in France, Elixir Festival in Belgium… and many more.
I know that this one might be a bit tough to answer but do you think that you could name the all-time favourite track that was produced by yourself?
That has to be my 2 albums released on Horseback between 1996 and 1999… “Van” and “From Here To The Moon”... These two were masterpieces in my opinion.
Where do you see yourself in the following ten years? Still doing music or maybe doing something a bit more relaxed?
I can't think of anything other than my work and to be involved with the music, so we'll see each other again for quite a while around clubs and festivals for sure. :)
